Chick-Fil-A Nuggets + Fries

We have lots of Costco chicken.

So much, in fact, that I tend to pull a couple breasts out of the freezer to thaw without any real idea of what to do with it. However, today I had one thing in mind: chicken nuggets. Specifically, Chick-Fil-A nuggets.

I Googled a recipe and selected the first one I saw to reference. Honestly, I was pretty thrown off by the marinade, which consisted of dill pickle juice and milk in addition to powdered sugar later on. The most outrageous fried chicken ingredient I’ve ever noticed in a recipe before this was yellow mustard (which I REFUSE to buy).

Nonetheless, I went to the grocery store to acquire said ingredients. I also picked up a couple of potatoes to use for a side of fries.

I’ll admit that I didn’t read through either recipe before starting dinner. I should’ve known that the potatoes required a good hour-long soak to draw out the starch, and I should’ve assumed the chicken would need to marinate for at least 30 minutes before frying. For some reason I didn’t consider either of these things, which resulted in a slight delay but was ultimately no big deal. I ended up soaking the sliced potatoes for about 15 minutes before thoroughly rinsing them and seasoning with olive oil, Lawry’s, and Kinder’s “The Blend”.

The potatoes were cooked in the air fryer at 380° (mine doesn’t measure in increments of 5, otherwise I’d have set it to 375°) for 18 minutes per batch. I stored them on a foil-lined baking sheet along with the nuggets in a preheated oven while the other batches were cooking, and it did a pretty good job of keeping everything toasty. The frying of the nuggets was surprisingly simple and actually resulted in a near perfect conclusion.
